Our Story

The café was opened in the summer of 2012 as a place for Penelope, the owner, to share her love of food and travel with the world. The various locals that over the years have become “regulars” have help influence the growth of the cafe and today the cafe is still run by Peneople with the help of her many friends and family.

The interior of the space was designed with the charming pâtisseries of Paris in mind and it evolved from there. The Bella Beach community where we’ve made our home, offers a quaint cozy corner that was just perfect! Surrounded by forest and a few blocks from the beach, this was the exact atmosphere we needed to bring our vision to life.

We also promote the arts by using our wall space as an “open” gallery for local talent to be displayed in addition to offering a variety of classic literature for leisurely reading. It’s common to bump into one or more of our artists who frequent the café, so stop by for a treat and stay for some great conversation!

Inspired by indulgence and balanced with Oregon’s bounty, we strive to make classic European faire with a personal touch! We proudly use products from our local farms, stores and purveyors including Panini Bakery, Cafe Umbria, Provvista Specialty Foods, Carlton Farms, Briar Rose Creamery, Oceana co-op of Newport, Trillium Natural Foods and many others insuring our menu offers diversity and quality.
